There are only two sets of brothers playing at the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, making for bragging rights whenever there are family gatherings.

Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick are from England, and Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard are from Denmark. Both Højgaards are projected to miss the cut.

Is Alex Fitzpatrick related to Matt Fitzpatrick?

Yes. The two golfers are brothers.

Alex Fitzpatrick was born on Jan. 2, 1999, in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, and Matt Fitzpatrick was born on Sept. 1, 1994.

Both brothers traveled to the United States to attend college: Alex played collegiately at Wake Forest University, while Matt played golf at Northwestern University, but soon left school to turn professional. Matt has gone on to win five times on the PGA Tour, including winning the 2022 U.S. Open with a one-shot victory over  Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris.

Alex has one win on the PGA Tour, winning the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April with his brother, which gave him a two-year exemption on tour.
