Woman stabbed to death in North York highrise

A woman was stabbed to death in a North York highrise on Saturday afternoon – and the killer remains on the loose.

Toronto Police say officers responded to “a person with a knife” call at the residential building near Don Mills Rd. And Fairview Mall Dr., just north of Sheppard Ave. E., around 2:30 p.m.
“Officers located a female victim inside the building who had been stabbed,” police said in a message posted on X. “(The) victim has been pronounced deceased on scene.”
The dead woman’s name was not immediately released.
The assailant fled the scene and “remains outstanding at this time,” police added.
There was a heavy police presence at the building, including ETF officers, in the wake of the murder.
And residents of the highrise were told to shelter in place until police were able to confirm the killer was no longer in the building.
No suspect description was immediately available.
Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and planned to update the media as new information develops.
