Jaxon Smith-Njigba makes the Seattle Seahawks go, but is he the best franchise player in the NFL today?
According to Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon in the network’s assessment of the best true franchise players in the NFL for teams to build around, Smith-Njigba was ranked No. 11 overall.

”He has to be considered the hottest offensive star in football entering his fourth pro campaign with the defending champions,” Gagnon said of the reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year Smith-Njigba.
The Seahawks’ passing attack was largely predicated around getting Smith-Njigba the ball down the field last season. He had a historic year in 2025, having led the league in receiving yards with 1,793, which was also the eighth-most by a wide receiver in a single-season in NFL history.
Though quarterbacks are favored over all other positions in the NFL as leaders of franchises, Smith-Njigba is that special of a player to not only be considered the franchise player for the Seahawks over QB Sam Darnold, but also favorably among his peers in the league.
