Cam Gill, the reigning United Football League Defensive Player of the Year, is signing with the Carolina Panthers, according to Fox Sports' Greg Auman.
The 28-year-old outside linebacker from Douglasville, Georgia, set a new UFL single-season sack record with 11 during the Kings' run from 0-3 to United Bowl champions. He also racked up 48 tackles, with 14 resulting in a loss of yards.
"This team has weathered the storm," Gill told The Courier Journal the day before the Kings' United Bowl victory over the DC Defenders last month. "It's just a testament to the grit and the toughness of this football team."
This will be Gill's first stint in the NFL since 2024, when he logged 22 tackles (six solo) across 10 games for the Panthers in 2024. Since going undrafted out of Wagner in 2020, he's made 50 appearances at the sport's highest level — and won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gill is the fifth Kings player to land on an NFL roster since the team's inaugural season in the UFL ended, joining kicker Tanner Brown, wide receivers Tarik Black and Lucky Jackson and running back Ian Wheeler. Brown, the UFL's Special Teams Player of the Year, signed with the Saints. Black and Jackson signed with the Detroit Lions, and Wheeler signed with the Buffalo Bills.
