Earlier this season Xander Schauffele's consecutive cuts made streak ended at 72. A couple of weeks ago, Scottie Scheffler was the PGA Tour active leader at 78 when that ended at the Scottish Open. A week later at the British, Matt Fitzpatrick at 28 was the leader in the category but that was short-lived as he missed the weekend.

Heading into the 3M Open, Hideki Matsuyama was the active leader with 28 straight made cuts. Through 27 holes at TPC Twin Cities, the Japanese start was 2 under overall and on the wrong side of the projected cut of 3 under, putting him in danger of being the latest cuts made leader to come up short.
But he flipped the script after making birdies on Nos. 10, 12, 13 and 14. His 2 on the par-3 13th also won the fans over as there was a promotion on Friday whereby beers would be half-price at the concession stand near the 13th hole for 10 minutes after any birdie. It didn't take long for a long line to form.

With three events left before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, time is running out for those scrambling to get into the top 70. That's the game within the game among those also more pressing to play the weekend.
Max McGreevy, 2 under
McGreevy opened 74 at the 3M but rallied hard to post 66 but came up one shot short of the weekend.
Sungjae Im, 1 under
Im made a splash with some cool Malbon gear, but couldn't get the game to match, shooting 71-70 and missing the cut by two shots.
Aldrich Potgieter, even par
Another golfer who did his best to overcome a bad first round was Potgieter, who shot 77 on Thursday, but his Friday 65 was three shots not enough.
Johnny Keefer, even par
Keefer was in on that trend as well, shooting 76-66 but packing his bags early. He was 71st in the Fedex, just outside the coveted top 70 but slides back three spots to 74 in the projected standings.
Tony Finau, 1 over
Big Tone shot 74-69 and missed by quite a bit. Heading into the 3M, he was one of 22 golfers who made the 2025 FedEx but came into TPC Twin Cities outside of the top 70. He was 83 but is down three spots while heading home early.
Stefano Mazzoli, 2 over
Mazzoli, who became a member of the PGA Tour just five days ago after earning his maiden win in just his third start, struggled in this week's marquee event, shooting 75-69.
Max Homa, 4 over
Sitting at 3 over and hitting his second on the 18th, Homa came up short of the green and went splash down in the lake, typifying a disappointing week. He was solo second at the John Deere Classic three weeks ago and had made five straight cuts but this was just not his week.
Aaron Wise, 7 over
It was a rough outing for Wise, who had been on a bit of a roll after overcoming some recent issues. He was lurking heading into the final round of the John Deere Classic before finishing T-39. One week later, he played in the final group at the ISCO Championship, where he finished second. Last week he was T-15 at the Corales Puntacana Championship. This week, though, he shot 72-77 with two doubles and a triple on Friday.
