Switchbacks ET goal seals fourth straight win

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Switchbacks continue their hot July with a fourth win in a row defeating Charleston Battery 2-1 on July 25th at Weidner Field.

Colorado Springs and Charleston played to an even duel in the first half with only a few chances for each team. But in the second half, the Switchbacks would jump into the lead as Adrien Perez scored on a rebound for a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute.

Charleston would tie things up in the 81st minute before Colorado Springs would step up in extra time. In the 95th minute of the game, Jonas Fjeldberg found a header that sent the game winning goal into the back of the net and another wild ending for the Switchbacks.

It marks their fourth straight win overall, fourth win in their last five league matches and seven wins in their last nine overall matches. Colorado Springs also swept the two games in four days to position themselves in third place in the Western Conference as of July 25th.

The Switchbacks will open up August with another tough test when they hit the road to play New Mexico United on Saturday, August 1st.
