Kentucky Wildcats News: BBN redemption for Archie Goodwin and Kahlil Whitney

La Familia came out of Sunday’s contest in The Basketball Tournament against Boeheim’s Army on top, 70-66.

A stressful second half that included many missed free throws had things looking not-so-good for the Wildcats alumni team, but heroics from Archie Goodwin and Kahlil Whitney put the Cats over the top.

Goodwin had 30 points and a couple of big-time buckets down the stretch in the Elam Ending to hold off Boeheim’s Army. The former Wildcat also had six rebounds and five assists along with two steals.

Joining him in double-figures was Darryl Morsell with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Similar to Goodwin’s performance on Sunday, former Wildcat Whitney has also played well throughout the tournament.

Neither had wonderful endings to their time in a Kentucky Wildcats uniform — Goodwin’s career ended in the NIT, while Whitney left his UK team in January — but both are representing Big Blue extremely well in TBT, and if La Familia indeed wins it all, they will be a major part.

The alumni team championship is on Wednesday with La Familia facing either Kansas or Wichita State at Historic Memorial Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM ET with coverage on FS1.
