Alert CR Pointsman and RPF save life of passenger with daring act of bravery

Central Railway staff, Vallentine D’Souza, Pointsman, and Sikandara Sahani, RPF posted at Lonavala station, Mumbai Division, displayed incredible act of bravery and saved a physically challenged passenger from harm.
The 11030 Kolhapur-CSMT Koyna Express arrived at Lonavala station at 18.25 hrs on 29.07.2026. As the train departed at 18.32 hrs, a physically challenged passenger with his crutches tried to board the Second class General Coach of the running train and in the process lost his balance and fell.

On seeing this, on duty Pointsman, D’Souza and on duty RPF, Sahani immediately rushed to help and pulled the passenger away from the moving train to safety and saved him from harm.
The passenger named Amit, a resident of Karjat who was in a state of trauma, was given first aid and counselled. The station staff of Lonavala ensured that he was comfortably accommodated in the next train for his onward journey.
D’Souza and Sahani, have given a unique example of alertness, daring and presence of mind in saving the life of the passenger setting an example for others to follow.
Central Railway acknowledges this exemplary act of bravery. Alert and brave railway men and women are working 24x7 to ensure smooth and safe travel of millions of passengers.
Railways appeals to passengers to avoid boarding or de-boarding running trains as it may be dangerous to life and can cause permanent injury.
