Midway through Saturday’s training camp session at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen collided with cornerback Kaiir Elam on a punt drill.

Allen reportedly stayed down on the play before being helped by trainers off the field. The rookie then was transported from practice in the front of a cart.

Allen had been one of the early stars of Chiefs camp. He was lauded for reeling in multiple acrobatic catches from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Friday’s practice. The Chiefs had no immediate update on Allen’s status following Saturday’s practice. The team has an off-day Sunday before the first padded practice on Monday.

Elsewhere on the injury front, defensive end Ashton Gillotte missed Saturday’s practice. This was expected after the second-year pro left Friday’s session early with a hamstring injury. Rookie linebacker Wesley Bissainthe was also not seen on the field Saturday. Bissainthe missed much of the offseason program with an undisclosed injury after joining Kansas City this spring as an undrafted free agent out of Miami.

Kicker Harrison Butker was also absent on Saturday. Chiefs assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Dave Toub confirmed after practice that Butker’s absence was for personal reasons, and he is expected back on Monday.

Second-year defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott remains on the team’s Physically-Unable-to-Perform list and is not practicing. Rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane continues to practice while wearing a yellow, non-contact jersey.

We will pass along any further notes on Allen or other situations as more information becomes available.
