Titans blow out Melrose to place 5th in state tournament

Aug. 2—ST. JOESEPH — The Bemidji American Legion softball team ended its run at the state tournament on a high note.
After losing its first game against Caledonia and coming from behind to beat Swanville on Saturday, the Titans faced Melrose in the fifth place game and won in blowout fashion, 10-0.

Bemidji had a four-run inning in the first and the fourth before adding on two more in the fifth to make it 10-0.
McKenzie Bullock, a staple for Bemidji in the pitching circle, pitched a one-hitter, allowing just one walk while striking out five. She also went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI at the plate.
Jill Pulkrabek had the best day in the batter's box for Bemidji. She went 2-for-3 with four RBIs on a bases-clearing triple in the first inning and a single in the fourth.
Ridley Hadrava went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Isla Berg made the most of her opportunity, hitting an RBI double in the fifth inning after pinch hitting for Jessa Anderson.
