‘I’m not convinced by Kaizer Chiefs’: Ex-Bucs coach points out Amakhosi’s weakness

Former Orlando Pirates head coach Owen Da Gama has highlighted Kaizer Chiefs’ potential weakness despite their convincing 3-1 win over Kruger United in their opening fixture.
Goals from Flavio Da Silva and Wandile Duba were enough to give Amakhosi three points in their first Betway Premiership match of the campaign.

Da Gama was not pleased with Chiefs‘ win, feeling Kruger United were not much of a challenge.
“My primary concern lies with their defence. I coached some of the players currently at Kruger last season,” he told KickOff.
“While Baartman and Chislett may have played well on Saturday, it was evident that the team Chiefs were playing against is still relatively new to the league.”
Da Gama said Kaizer Chiefs new coach Fernando Da Cruz does not know much about Amakhosi players.
“I suspect the new coach may not be fully aware of the types of errors Ignacio Miguel committed defensively last season,” he added.
The former Bucs felt Amakhosi did not look convincing against the Mpumalanga side.
“I am not convinced by the team’s display against Kruger.
“Please believe me when I say that Kruger are likely to face difficulties this season. Chiefs could have performed better; their display was not convincing.”
Kaizer Chiefs turn focus to MTN8
Having won their opening match, Amakhosi now shift their focus to the MTN8 quarter-finals, where they play Golden Arrows. This will be Chiefs’ first time playing in the competition after two years.
