However, the 2x NBA champion has continued to get called out by NBA fans and players alike because of his off-court comments.
History repeated itself when Durant recently threw shade at his former Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson while explaining how LeBron James had made the Philadelphia 76ers superior to the Dubs super team.

During KD’s three-year stint with the Warriors, Thompson took a backseat and became a third option on most nights. The result? It helped the Warriors win two of their three straight NBA Finals appearances during the Durant era.
Evidently, Thompson never became a name to crack the NBA MVP rankings, but he still has four championships to his name.
Despite that, Durant used Thompson not being an MVP candidate to support his statement that the current 76ers are better than the 2016-17 Warriors. This, of course, didn’t sit well with Thompson and now-former NBA second overall pick Evan Turner on X.
A former Philly player being stunned shows how Durant missed the mark with the Thompson comparison.
But knowing Durant, it’s unlikely he’ll offer a public clarification about the sly dig at his former Warriors teammate, and that sets up the next KD vs. Klay matchup perfectly.
