More details emerged of what preceded Elijah Bieniemy's alleged shooting of his mother Mia Bieniemy.
The son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy called the police to complain about his parents withholding his guns from him two days before the alleged shooting on July 26, according to police reports obtained by The Athletic.

Mia was shot at the family's home in Ashburn, Virginia, and critically wounded. She was reportedly transferred out of the ICU last week. The 27-year-old Elijah was arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.
Elijah's court appearance was delayed last week after his public defender's motion for a mental health competency evaluation was granted. In a filing, his lawyer said he "appears to suffer from significant mental health issues" and "does not appear able to assist in his own defense at the present time."
On his call to police, Elijah reportedly rambled about multiple things, including a claim that he's a UFC fighter. From The Athletic:
On July 24, two days before the shooting, a 27-year-old man calling from the Bieniemy family's address told police "his parents are withholding his weapons and that he's a certified UFC fighter so now he feels like he cannot defend himself," according to a Loudoun County Sheriff's Department report, which redacted the name of the caller.
The caller "kept rambling on about also having his (CPR) license and what if he cannot help," according to the incident report, which was obtained by The Athletic through a public records request.
The man went on to tell police "his parents told him he must give them his firearms if he wants to keep living in the home — and that he could have them back when he needed them." He added his parents "refuse to give (him) his firearms back when he tries to go to the range to use them."
The Athletic reports two other calls involving the family were reportedly documented. One, on June 22, is heavily redacted and concerns a suspicious circumstance at the Bieniemys' address involving people whose descriptions match Elijah and Mia. The other, on June 26, is a request from a college counselor for a welfare check on a 27-year-old.
The sheriff's office declined comment on the matter to The Athletic, but confirmed that "We have reviewed the incidents referenced in your correspondence as part of our investigation."
The offensive coordinator has been away from the Chiefs since the shooting was reported last week, with no timeline to return.
