SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (CANARIES) — Fargo-Moorhead never trailed Thursday night, topping the Sioux Falls Canaries 14-8 at the Birdcage to avoid the three-game series sweep.

A two-run homerun in the top of the first gave the RedHawks a 2-0 lead. They’d add two more runs in the second before Joe Vos smacked a two-run homer in the bottom half.

Fargo-Moorhead, though, plated four runs in the top of the third to build an 8-2 advantage. Josh Rehwaldt got a run back in the home portion via RBI double.

Sioux Falls scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to get within 8-6 and put the tying run at second base but that’s as close as the Birds would get. Jabari Henry knocked in two with a single and Michael Curialle added an RBI double.

The RedHawks scored twice in the sixth inning before Rehwaldt responded with an RBI sacrifice fly. Fargo-Moorhead added three runs in the eighth and another in the ninth to break the game open. TJ Racherbaumer drew a bases loaded walk in the home half but the Birds could get no closer.

Grady Mee finished with three hits while Rehwaldt and Curialle each added two. The Canaries (38-33) will open a three-game home series with Milwaukee Friday at 7:05pm.
