The Baltimore Orioles had the Los Angeles Angels on the ropes going into Thursday's matchup, winning the first two games of a three-game series.

However, Los Angeles refused to leave Oriole Park at Camden Yards without making their mark. The Angels would hold the Orioles to a single run in the third inning while scoring four to ward off a sweep.
In a postgame interview with MASN, Baltimore right fielder Dylan Beavers noted the team's inability to capitalize on free opportunities and a decent outing by right-hander Brandon Young who fanned four batters despite surrendering six hits.
"Yeah, it's frustrating," Beavers said. "They definitely gave us opportunities offensively and I think our pitching was plenty good enough for us to win that game."
Beavers' point would be evident when the Orioles faced off against Angels starter Ryan Johnson who gave up three hits and five walks while recording just one strikeout through 4.2 innings of work.
Beavers and Gunnar Henderson got things started for Baltimore, each drawing a walk in the first inning. Nonetheless, their efforts were wasted when Christian Encarnacion-Strand grounded out into an inning-ending double play.
The second inning was about the same when Johnson issued his third walk of the game to Leody Taveras. The Angels remained unfazed as Jeremiah Jackson grounded out into another costly double play for the Orioles.
"I feel like you just have to be really disciplined and we were walking, getting on base, it's just not capitalizing when we got in good situations," Beavers said.
This paved the way for Zach Neto to give the Angels a 3-0 lead in the third as he connected on a 93-mph sinker down the middle for a three-run homer to center field.
Baltimore finally got on the board that same inning when Yohel Pozo went yard as well for a solo blast to left center. That was all for the Orioles the rest of the way as they failed to create significant traffic on the basepaths.
Wade Meckler would slam the door on Baltimore in the seventh, coming home to score off a sacrifice fly by Nolan Schanuel.
The Orioles' struggles with gaining the upper hand over their opponents have shown in other games this season such as the team's 7-6 loss to the Atlanta Braves on July 24.
Baltimore took a 3-2 lead in the fourth, but ended up squandering it when Drake Baldwin launched a game-tying home run in the eighth. Despite the Orioles storming back for three runs in the 10th, it was not enough to overcome the four scored by the Braves.
Regardless, the Orioles will have their sights set on another series win against the Texas Rangers who are coming off a series win of their own over the San Francisco Giants.
