Mystery surrounds KZN shooting that left two women wounded

A 43-year-old woman was critically injured and her 21-year-old passenger suffered a gunshot wound during a shooting on Jabu Ngcobo Road near Dawncrest, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday afternoon.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received several calls from members of the public about the shooting at around 16:26.

According to RUSA, two men approached a white VW Golf 8 and opened fire while the two women sat inside.
The gunmen shot the driver several times, leaving her in a critical condition. They also shot her passenger in the thigh.
The driver appears to have been the intended target, while the motive remains unknown.
Paramedics stabilised both women at the scene before taking them to hospital.
Two men found shot dead in Phoenix
In an unrelated incident, RUSA officers found two men shot dead in Phoenix, KZN, on Friday afternoon.
Officers were patrolling the area when a member of the public alerted them to the bodies at around 16:34.
First responders found one man lying with blood-soaked clothing. They found the second man on an unpaved pathway about 100 metres away. He had also suffered gunshot wounds.
Police investigate
A large crowd gathered at the scene, but residents did not provide officers with information about the killings.
Some residents claimed the two men were habitual thieves, but authorities could not immediately confirm the allegations.
Police will investigate the circumstances surrounding both shootings.
