Police investigate fatal crash that killed Maskandi star Scebi Dlamini

Maskandi artist Scebi Dlamini, better known as Inkosi Yamagcokama, died in a car crash in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport confirmed that police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Dlamini, who was from Msinga, was travelling in Richards Bay when the accident happened. Two other people were injured and taken to hospital.

Artist remembered as a Maskandi icon

KwaZulu-Natal Transport and Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma said the crash happened at a traffic light opposite Melomed Hospital in Richards Bay.

He said emergency teams, including the Road Traffic Inspectorate, Umhlathuze Traffic, the South African Police Service and rescue services, responded to the scene, but Dlamini died from his injuries.

Duma said another occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital but later died.

Department mourns loss

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport described Inkosi Yamagcokama as an important figure in Maskandi music.

The department said Dlamini earned the admiration of millions of music lovers through his talent, humility and contribution to the genre.

It added that his legacy would continue to inspire future Maskandi artists.
