Eagles sign Pa. native, undrafted rookie defensive standout

PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles have signed an intriguing undrafted rookie as they approach Saturday’s preseason opener against the Ravens.
The Eagles signed former Patriots defensive tackle David Blay on Monday.

Blay, who was waived by New England last week, worked out for the Eagles on Sunday, alongside running back Ja’Quinden Jackson and edge rusher Tarron Jackson. All three were signed.
Blay’s return to Pennsylvania continues his underdog story to the NFL. The Levittown native was a zero-star recruit and started his collegiate career at West Chester (D-II).

Blay then transferred from West Chester to Louisiana Tech, where he spent two seasons. Blay was a first-team all-conference pick in 2024, racking up 10 1/2 tackles for loss.
Blay was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal ahead of his final collegiate season. He moved to Miami in 2025 and started for the national runners-up.
Now, after a brief stint with the Patriots, Blay will have a chance to compete for a roster spot with the Eagles.
Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo are roster locks. Byron Young is probably a lock, as well. But Blay could snag one of the last spots on the 53-man if he outplays Ty Robinson, Gabe Hall and Zion Wilson.
