KaTron Evans is eligible to play, for now

On Monday a Federal judge ruled NC State defensive lineman KaTron Evans eligible for the next two weeks, as his lawsuit for a sixth season of eligibility remains pending. Sources close to the situation have told me that NC State does not play any football in the next two weeks, however.
Evans, who redshirted in 2022 and missed the 2023 season, had his waiver for a sixth year denied by the NCAA last month. It’s worth clarifying that Evans is a member of the high school class of 2021, not the class of 2022, so his case is entirely separate from what’s been going on in Colorado and elsewhere.

While he waits for a final resolution regarding his eligibility, he can at least get on the practice field with the team, and if he does end up being able to play this season, these two weeks will end up being important. How much he’ll play, if he can play, is anybody’s guess, but no doubt it’d be nice to have the extra help in the interior defensive line.
(You may have noticed in the above-linked article that Dave said Evans would play more snaps at nose guard than anybody else on the team, but I’d take that with a heavy dose of salt.)
