Toronto cops cuffed a senior citizen at a demonstration on Sunday near the U.S. Consulate.
On Aug. 16, at about 5:58 p.m., police were in the University Ave. and Armoury St. area for a demonstration.

A group of protesters and counter-protesters were demonstrating in front of the consulate. Police allege the victim was recording the demonstration when the accused approached the victim and questioned a media credential. During the course of the conversation, the accused allegedly assaulted the victim.
Khashayar Pakdel, 70, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with assault.

Steel City mischief incident
Hamilton Police are investigating a hate-related mischief incident involving a local business.
On June 13 between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., police allege an unknown individual attended a business located at 51 Adair Ave. S. and placed stickers containing neo-Nazi and anti-Black imagery on the property.
The business listed at this location is the Solidarity Place Worker Education Centre.
The Hate Crime Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual shown in the images.

Early morning shooting in Hamilton
Hamilton Police are investigating after a man was shot at Gage Park on Friday morning.
Police believe the incident happened at about 7 a.m.. Cops said they did not learn about the incident until Saturday, after receiving information that an individual had sustained a gunshot wound.
Police said the man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot injury. He received medical treatment and was released from a hospital.
The exact location and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
The Hamilton Shooting Response Team is asking anyone who was in or near Gage Park on Friday morning and witnessed suspicious activity to come forward.
Police are seeking dash-camera video, residential security or cellphone video in the area around the time of the incident.

OPP cop arrested
The Ontario Special Investigations Unit arrested an OPP officer and charged him with sexual assault offences.
SIU director Joseph Martino said he had reasonable grounds to believe an OPP officer with the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment committed criminal offences between August 2024 and October 2025.
On Feb. 6 of this year, the OPP notified the SIU of an allegation of sexual assault involving an officer and a woman. During its investigation, the SIU uncovered separate allegations involving two additional women.
Cst. Zahid Javed is facing three counts of sexual assault and three counts of breach of trust.
Javed was arrested on Monday morning at SIU headquarters in Mississauga and later released on several conditions. One of his conditions is to refrain from communicating either directly or indirectly with the affected persons.
The SIU will not provide further comment on the investigation as the matter is now before the courts.
Suspected hate incident in North York
Toronto Police have charged a man in a suspected hate-motivated incident.
On Aug. 16 at about midnight, police alleged the accused was involved in an incident with the victim in the York Mills and Don Mills Rds. area.
Police alleged that the suspect was using racial slurs toward the victim, a south Asian male. The victim then tried to leave the scene when the accused allegedly assaulted him. Police were called and investigated the incident at the scene,
Skyler Sampson, 33, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with assault and an offence motivated by hatred.
