Training sessions scheduled for Taming of the Slough

Four Tune Up for Taming sessions to help participants prepare for the Taming of the Slough sessions will take place at the Bass Street Landing at the foot of 17th Street, Moline, a news release says. Sessions will be Thursday, Aug. 20, followed by Aug. 27, Sept. 3, and Sept. 10, all from 5:30-7 p.m.

The Taming of the Slough Adventure Race combines paddling, mountain biking and running for an athletic challenge and an exciting race.
The Taming of the Slough is for adventure triathletes and anyone looking to push themselves in kayaking, mountain biking, and running. Awarded categories include:
- Men’s Individual
- Women’s individual
- Youth (12—17)
- Men’s 3-Person Relay
- Women’s 3-Person Relay
- Co-Ed 3-Person Relay
- Corporate Challenge (3-Person Relay)
The Traditional Taming of the Slough race takes place in the Sylvan Slough, on Sylvan Island, and on the I-74 Bridge with the race start at 8 a.m Sept. 12. Start the traditional race at Bass Street YMCA. Register here.
