After making a Super Bowl appearance in 2021, and reaching the AFC Championship in 2022, the Bengals have now missed the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. Cincinnati’s 2025 season appeared to be the breaking point for several players and the front office.
In 2025, Cincinnati had their worst record since Joe Burrow’s rookie season. As a result, the Bengals underwent a roster makeover. They traded their first-round pick for three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, and signed Boye Mafe, Jonathan Allen and Bryan Cook to multiyear deals in free agency.
Cincinnati Bengals Linked to Tyreek Hill

While Cincinnati’s moves were aggressive, they were all focused on addressing their defense. That was due to the Bengals already having a top-10 offense in 2025. However, one Bengals analyst linked the Bengals to superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill, which would only raise the team’s expectations in 2026.
Former All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill remains a free agent heading into the 2026 season. Hill suffered a devastating knee injury during Week 4 of the 2025 season as a member of the Miami Dolphins. Due to the nature of the injury, Hill had to undergo multiple surgeries, which left his status in doubt ahead of the 2026 season.
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said of the status of the wide receiver, “I don’t expect Tyreek Hill to sign before the season. He sent me videos of him running hills yesterday & he looked great..
I do think when he does sign he will be the kind of guy that will impact the playoff race & will certainly be successful.”
Rosenhaus added, “Tyreek Hill is gonna take his time and pick the right team. He’s gonna come back fully healthy and he wants to help a team win a Super Bowl.”
Bengals Talk’s James Rapien commented on the second point Rosenhaus made, as he posted on X: “Drew Rosenhaus was at Bengals practice this week.”

Tyreek Hill’s situation is murky; however,if he is healthy and resembles the player he used to be, he could take Cincinnati’s offense to another level. In 2022 and 2023, Hill was named a first-team All-Pro as he surpassed 1,700 receiving yards on both occasions.
The Bengals have had questions at the wide receiver position behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and Hill would be an overqualified No. 3 receiver. While the Bengals do have some intriguing options at the wide receiver position, none of them have the pedigree of Hill.
If the season starts, and the Bengals get off to a hot start, perhaps the idea of rebuilding Hill’s stock on a team where he would likely not draw double teams could be appealing to Drew Rosenhaus. Of course, for that to happen, Hill would likely have to accept a reduced role for the first time in his career. If aiming for another championship, the Bengals may be the ideal option for the former Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winner.
Whether that had any impact on why Rosenhaus attended Bengals practice remains to be seen.
