Hamilton cyclist dead following crash; Toronto apartments struck by bullets

A cyclist in Hamilton is dead after being struck by a vehicle in that city late Saturday night.

Hamilton Police said emergency crews responded to Upper Centennial Parkway and Green Mountain Rd. shortly after 11 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a cyclist.

Cops said the male cyclist, who was travelling northbound, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police said that alcohol and speed are not believed to have been factors in the collision.

Hamilton Police want to speak with trio following shooting

Police in Hamilton are wanting to speak with three people who they believe have “critical information” in connection with a shooting at a private event on Sunday morning.

Hamilton Police said they received a call at 3:10 a.m. for a shooting in the Queenston Rd.-Parkdale Ave. S. area.

During the private event, cops said a physical altercation broke out between two parties and police said a firearm was discharged.

“Although there were several people in the area, there is no information to suggest anyone was injured,” police said.

In a news release issued on Sunday afternoon, police shared images of three people they said could assist in their investigation.

They are being asked to contact investigators at 905-546-4883.

East-end apartments hit by bullets: Cops

Two apartment buildings in Toronto’s east end were damaged by gunfire early Sunday morning.

Toronto Police said they responded to the area of Thorncliffe Park Dr. and Overlea Blvd. at about 5 a.m. following reports of multiple shots fired at the residential buildings.

Police found evidence of a firearm discharge and damage to both apartment buildings.

There were no injuries reported.

Police do not have a description of the suspect or suspects, however, they noted that a “light-coloured sedan was seen fleeing” the area.
