The 2026 season will feature several Schuylkill League matchups not seen in a long time, including one that’s never been played before. Along with those, some classic rivalries make up this list of 10 highly anticipated league contests.

Mahanoy Area at Panther Valley – Aug. 28
Mahanoy Area, which finished with a 2-8 record in 2025, will try to avenge its 20-0 loss to Panther Valley last season. The Panthers look to build off of a 4-7 season, which included a trip to the Class 3A Quarterfinals where they fell to North Schuylkill.
Shenandoah Valley at Pine Grove – Sept. 4
Shenandoah Valley will aim to flip the script and get in the win column after an 0-10 season in 2025. The Blue Devils lost last year’s game against Pine Grove, 28-26, their closest margin all season. Pine Grove is coming off a 1-9 season, with Shenandoah Valley being the lone victory.
Blue Mountain at Schuylkill Haven – Sept. 11
Schuylkill Haven opened its 2025 season with a 34-27 win over Blue Mountain. After a 12-1 season that ended in the District 11 Championship game for the third year in a row, the Hurricanes will look to snag a Backyard Brawl victory for the second straight season. After winning the previous six matchups, Blue Mountain will look to start a new winning streak in Week 3.
Marian Catholic at Tamaqua – Sept. 11
Tamaqua and Marian Catholic will face off for the first time since 2018, when the Blue Raiders defeated the Colts, 48-0. The Blue Raiders finished the 2025 season with a 4-8 record, including a win over Saucon Valley in the District 11 Class 3A quarterfinal. Marian Catholic is coming off a 7-4 season that ended with a loss to Tri-Valley in the District 2/11 Class A Subregional semifinals.
Williams Valley at North Schuylkill – Sept. 11
The Week 3 matchup will be the first between the Spartans and Vikings. North Schuylkill capped off its 2025 season with an 8-4 record, ending in a District 11 Class 3A semifinal loss to Northwestern Lehigh. Williams Valley is coming off a 12-2 season and its third-straight District 11 Class 2A Championship.
Pottsville at Blue Mountain – Sept. 18
Blue Mountain, which capped off the 2025 season with a 7-5 record, will aim to win the Battle of 61 for the second-straight season, taking last year’s matchup, 49-14. Pottsville looks to improve upon a 2-8 season, which ended in a District 11 Class 4A quarterfinal loss to Bethlehem Catholic.
Marian Catholic at Tri-Valley – Oct. 2
The Colts and Bulldogs faced off twice in 2025, both games decided by a field goal. Marian Catholic won the first matchup,17-14, in Week 2. The Bulldogs got their revenge with a 3-0 victory in the District 2/11 Class A Subregional semifinals.
Blue Mountain at North Schuylkill – Oct. 16
Blue Mountain looks to end its losing skid against the Spartans who have won two straight and eight of the last 10 matchups. North Schuylkill defeated the Eagles, 42-21, in last season’s meeting.
Tri-Valley at Williams Valley – Oct. 30
Williams Valley looks to keep its five-game win streak against Tri-Valley alive. The Vikings won last year’s matchup, 14-7, in one of only three victories decided by one score.
Nativity BVM at Minersville – Oct. 30
Minersville will try to keep its hot streak going in the Battle in the Backyard. Nativity, coming off a 4-7 season, aims to snap a four-game skid against the Battlin’ Miners.
