Bank of Baroda Marks National Sports Day with Employee Sports and Fitness Activities

Bank of Baroda, India’s International Bank, marked National Sports Day by organising a series of sports and fitness activities for its employees. Undertaken as part of the Government of India’s Fit India Movement, the initiative sought to encourage active living and strengthen teamwork and camaraderie across the organisation. The event was graced by the presence of the Executive Directors of the Bank, Lalit Tyagi, Sanjay Vinayak Mudaliar, Lal Singh and Smt Beena Vaheed along with other staff members of the Bank.

Employees participated in table tennis, carrom, badminton and basketball, alongside the Bank’s zonal champions from various sporting disciplines. The activities brought colleagues across levels together and fostered a spirit of healthy competition and collective participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalit Tyagi, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, said, “Sports instil discipline, perseverance, teamwork and the determination to excel - values that are equally important in building a strong and resilient organisation. National Sports Day gives us an opportunity to encourage our employees to make fitness an integral part of their lives while celebrating the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand. Through our participation in the Fit India Movement, we are pleased to contribute to the vision of a healthier and more active India.”
The Bank also supported the National Sports Day social media campaign #KhelegaBharatJeetegaBharat, amplifying the message that greater participation in sports and fitness can contribute to a stronger nation.
Observed annually on 29 August to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, National Sports Day celebrates India’s sporting legacy and encourages citizens to embrace sports and physical activity in their daily lives.
