A few weeks ago, representatives for Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels sent a cease and desist to LSU over the football program's willingness to give his old jersey number to cornerback DJ Pickett.

That, of course, turned into the latest big meme in the sports world. So, it's only right that LSU football got in on the fun as a party to the actual meme.

That time arrived on Monday.

Over the past few days, the official Twitter/X account for LSU football has been doing a season countdown to Saturday's opener against Clemson. With Monday being five days out, LSU could have tweeted a photo with the No. 5 and in turn invited a predictable reaction from social media. The social admin did this instead:

Instead of tweeting a No. 5 graphic, LSU got in on the meme and displayed a "4+" over the photo. It basically preempted the roasting that could have sparked from posting a "5," and this was so much better. It was the perfect amount of pettiness that the saga deserved.

Fans loved the joke

You know Daniels is fighting a losing battle when his own alma mater is trolling him.
