Roger Federer's daughter and Lleyton Hewitt's son share sweet moment at US Open

Roger Federer's 17-year-old daughter, Myla, and Lleyton Hewitt's 17-year-old son, Cruz, were spotted hanging out at the US Open on Monday night, as they watched Ben Shelton take on Tallon Griekspoor from the stands of the Arthur Ashe Stadium in NYC.

The high schoolers appeared to enjoy each other's company as they sat side by side, showing each other content on their phones.

Myla looked stunning in an all-white ensemble featuring white pants and a button-up white tee, while Cruz was casual in beige pants and a green polo T-shirt.

Cruz is good friends with Myla and her twin sister, Charlene, and the trio spent time together at the Australian Open in January, and again at Wimbledon in July ahead of the junior boys' final. Cruz is following in his famous father's footsteps and pursuing a tennis career, and is currently ranked world number 354 in singles.

Also in attendance at the US Open match on Monday night was Charlene, as well as Cruz's younger brother, Leo. 

The girls watched on as their father, Roger, received his International Tennis Hall of Fame ring at the match, two days after being inducted into the Hall of Fame in Rhode Island.

"It's been an incredible week, and it gave me the chance to look back at all the incredible people that have helped me along the way, the game that I love so much and what it gave to me," Roger said in his speech.

"I was a little boy who dared to dream when I was young. Everyone who is young in this stadium or at home, hopefully they also have a dream, and they pursue it. It can bring you to a place like here tonight, or to getting inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame."

A fierce rivalry

Roger and Lleyton were fierce rivals back in their heyday, and came face-to-face 27 times throughout their careers. While the Swiss champion surged ahead 18 times, his Australian counterpart won nine matches in total.

"Roger was so tough to beat out here, especially in night conditions. It suited his game perfectly," Lleyton shared during an appearance at the 2026 Australian Open.

"He gave me some pretty bad beatings there for quite a while. I was able to have the numbers the first six or seven times we played, and then I lost count; it was a lot!"

"He had a completely [different] game style to pretty much everyone on tour at that time," the father of three continued. "The way he was able to change pace, use the short slice backhand, his accuracy on serve, especially on big points, was second to none."

Roger opened up about their years-long friendship in an interview with SBSin 2016. "We always got along well. It was sometimes feisty on the court, but it was always respectful," he recalled. "I always admired his work ethic, his on-court fighting spirit, even though it annoyed me sometimes because in the beginning it was crazier than now."

"Lleyton was something special. No doubt about it…Lleyton made me figure out my game and made me definitely a better player, as well," he concluded.
