Kyler Murray Fantasy Prediction 2026: Vikings QB Has Bargain-Bin Upside at QB18 Price

Kyler Murray Fantasy Prediction 2026:

After an uneven 2025 season in Arizona that saw him miss 12 games, Kyler Murray’s age-29 season will come in Minnesota, marking his first franchise change. For those doubting his fantasy ceiling, remember that 2024 wasn’t long ago at all: he threw for over 3,800 yards while running for 572 yards and 5 scores.

Should You Draft Kyler Murray in Fantasy Football?

Murray has a new home with the Minnesota Vikings after playing the entirety of his career to this point with the Arizona Cardinals.

As of early September, Murray has an ADP of 139.2. Based on that ADP, he would place as the QB18 in the league. But PFN fantasy analysts Jason Katz and Kyle Soppe are a little bit higher. Katz in particular has him ranked 116th on his board compared to 140th on Soppe’s board, for an average placement of 128, but QB17 on their combined boards.

The headline here is bargain bin. Murray’s public perception is at an all-time low after his midseason benching and departure from the Cardinals. Onlookers are eager to see if he can achieve career resurrection with Kevin O’Connell in Minnesota, similar to how Sam Darnold did in 2024. Murray already beat JJ McCarthy out for the starting job, which, let’s be fair, isn’t that hard. He is positioned to be the Vikings’ pointman for the foreseeable future in 2026.

He’s got a solid wide receiver trio with Justin Jefferson at the top and Jauan Jennings and Jordan Addison working alongside the contemporary great. They brought back 4 of 5 starters on the offensive line, but durability remains a question mark. Brian O’Neill is getting older. Will Fries has suffered injuries in recent years as well.

There’s a trepidacious RB rotation that may incentivize the Vikings to utilize Murray as a designed rushing threat, where he’s thrived in the past. You also factor in that Brian Flores’ defense may help Minnesota stay closer to neutral game scripts more often than not, which they were able to do even with inconsistencies at QB in 2025.

We forget Murray has produced before as a fantasy asset. In 2020, he scored 9.3 rushing fantasy points alone per game, which ranks eighth all time in that category. In 11 starts in 2022, Murray had 8 top-12 weekly fantasy performances. The upside is absolutely there.

The film story on Murray, unfortunately, is the same. He’s a talented passer and runner who can be too deferential to his creative gifts because of inconsistent field vision from the pocket. Represent short kings, am I right? But that imperfect QB has still been productive in fantasy football before. If O’Connell can teach him to be a little bit more consistent in structure, then there could be additional volume passing upside to unearth.

I would absolutely target Murray in superflex leagues where you need 2 QBs at the very least. I’d be less keen to have him as my primary option in one-QB redraft leagues, but would definitely target him as a high-upside candidate who could truly benefit your team down the stretch and help you compete if he can find a stride again.

Kyler Murray’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

Analysis provided by PFN Analyst Kyle Soppe.

I think Minnesota made a great decision to announce Murray as their starter in the first half of August as opposed to dragging the competition through the preseason. I think there were some confidence issues during the end of his tenure in Arizona, and this coaching staff showing him that he is valuable can only help.

Last season wasn’t ideal, but he did complete 72.4% of his passes with a pair of TDs and 38 rush yards in the opener at New Orleans. Big-time fantasy numbers aren’t that much of a distant memory, and this team certainly has some proven talent to support him.

Mobile quarterbacks didn’t have much success against the Packers last season, and that means this should be a valuable data point when it comes to evaluating just how high the ceiling is for Murray this season. Nine times did a QB score 14.5+ points against them, and only once did that player see 15% or more of his points come on the ground (Dak Prescott, Week 4).

If Murray can thrive as a passer, everything else opens up. This was a reasonable roll of the dice by you, and I think you are clear to lean in here: Murray is a top-15 QB for me, and that means I have him ranked ahead of any secondary QB that you would have taken to pair with him.

Murray is the highest-ranked QB in this game for me and checks in ahead of Patrick Mahomes if you’re looking for reference points.
