It underlined the influence the 31-year-old has had since arriving from Mamelodi Sundowns.
LEBOHANG MABOE KEEPS DELIVERING FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
Maboe’s first award came on 28 January 2026. He was instrumental as Kaizer Chiefs edged Marumo Gallants 1-0.
His work rate in midfield stood out. The playmaker then claimed his second award on 15 March. This time, Kaizer Chiefs defeated Durban City FC, with Maboe completing the full 90 minutes.
He did not stop there. On 21 March, Maboe produced another influential display in a 2-0 victory over Magesi FC.
He followed that up with another award against Orbit College FC on 6 April. Kaizer Chiefs fought back to secure a 3-1 victory, with Maboe once again controlling the midfield battle.
His fifth award arrived on 18 April. The midfielder impressed during a tense 0-0 draw with Polokwane City FC.
Now, Sunday’s victory over Siwelele FC has added another chapter to his impressive season, including a call-up to the latest Bafana Bafana preliminary squad.
AMAKHOSI’S MIDFIELD ANCHOR
Maboe has become increasingly important to Kaizer Chiefs. His role goes beyond simply breaking up attacks.
The midfielder provides defensive protection while also helping the team progress the ball. That balance has made him a key part of the Amakhosi midfield.
His influence has also placed him just behind Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng in the broader individual standings.
For Kaizer Chiefs, Maboe’s consistency has provided another important weapon.
And with the Betway Premiership season continuing, the veteran midfielder will be hoping there are more individual awards to come.
