NASCAR Cup Series Chase Standings Sees Major Shake-up After Darlington

Denny Hamlin’s 25-point lead to begin the NASCAR Cup Series Chase was cut in half following the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. With Christopher Bell taking the checkered flag in Sunday night’s race, the driver of the No. 20 moves into the second position in the standings, 12 points behind Hamlin.
Ryan Blaney falls to third in the standings after Darlington, but managed to gain nine points on Hamlin. Tyler Reddick ranks fourth in the standings, but is 24 points behind Hamlin as he picked up 11 points on the driver of the No. 11.

Hamlin suffered toe link problems in Sunday night’s Southern 500 after contact with Michael McDowell. The damage forced Hamlin to go a lap behind. However, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver recovered to finish on the lead lap in 18th.
