Bruins Make Long-Term Commitment to Fraser Minten

On Tuesday morning, the Bruins announced they signed center Fraser Minten to a seven-year, $50.4 million extension, which starts during the 2027-28 season. The contract carries an annual average value (AAV) of $7.2 million and runs through 2033-34.

“We are excited to have signed Fraser to a long-term extension,” said Don Sweeney in a statement. “Since joining our organization, Fraser has continued to grow and earn the accelerated trust of his teammates and coaching staff. His hockey sense, competitiveness, responsible two-way game, and offensive growth make him a valuable player for our group. This is a mutual long-term commitment that reflects our confidence in Fraser and the important role he will play, as well as Fraser’s belief in our team moving forward.”
During his first full season in Boston, Minten established himself as an everyday NHL player. He was one of three Bruins to play in all 82 games, and his 35 points (17-18–35) were the most by a Bruins rookie since the 2017-18 season. His 17 goals ranked fifth on the Bruins’ roster and eighth among all NHL rookies. He also led all Bruins forwards with a plus-21 rating on the season.
He earned a spot out of camp as the team’s third-line center, but Marco Sturm was not afraid to utilize him in top-line situations as the season went along. After the season, Sturm praised the jump Minten made, saying “he definitely has potential, let’s put it that way.”
Minten won NESN’s Seventh Player Award in April, a fan-voted award given to the Bruin who exceeded expectations throughout the season. He was also named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month in January after a 14-point month (8-6–14).
