John Marshall Butler leads after 3rd round of Korn Ferry Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship

John Marshall Butler shot a 5-under-par 66 on Sept. 19 and leads by one stroke heading into the final round of the Korn Ferry Tour's Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship at Ohio State.

Butler, at 16 under for the tournament, set a 54-hole record of 197 for the tournament, breaking the previous record of 198 set by Stephen Jaeger and Vince Whaley in 2021. This is Butler's first 54-hole lead/co-lead of his Korn Ferry Tour career that includes 22 starts. The 24-year-old Louisville native turned pro in 2024 after four years at Auburn.

Butler leads Jorge Fernandez Valdes by one stroke and S.Y. Noh by three strokes. Phichaksn Maichon, who led after the first and second rounds, carded a 73 and is in seventh place at 10 under.

Former Ohio State star Maxwell Moldovan is in 57th place at 3 under. He has carded three rounds of 70.

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 20.
