Former Twins outfielder Matt Wallner and prospective future Twins slugger Aaron Sabato now share the Saints’ new single-season Triple-A franchise home run record. Each finished the 2026 campaign with 25 homers apiece after sitting out Sunday’s game in the heart of Ohio.
Shortstop Tanner Shobel hit St. Paul’s only home run in the game, launching a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning to draw the visitors level at 3-3.
The Saints had initially rebounded from a 3-0 third-inning deficit by scoring twice in the fourth as outfielder Kala’i Rosario came home on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Tristan Gray before first baseman Jake Rucker singled home Schobel.
However, the Clippers seized control of the game with a two-run seventh. St. Paul attempted another two-out ninth-inning rally as Rucker and outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez reached base via walks, but both were stranded on a game — and season — ending force out at second base.
The Saints finished the year 82-67, second most wins in franchise history. In addition, St. Paul finished 41-34 at home and a franchise record 41 wins on the road with 33 losses. The team’s 839 runs scored were second most in franchise history and the 251 home runs were a franchise record, most in league history, and the second most all-time in Minor League Baseball.
