Manchester United forward Benjamin Šeško has issued an apology after confirming his withdrawal from the Slovenia national squad ahead of the upcoming international fixtures. The injury Šeško sustained dealt a blow to United over the weekend, ruling him out of the squad that drew 1-1 at Fulham in the Premier League.
Šeško has featured six times for United this season, yet has still not made a single Premier League start. Head coach Michael Carrick has instead deployed the striker in the Carabao Cup loss to Brighton and Hove Albion and the UEFA Champions League win against Sabah.

With Šeško sidelined against Fulham through injury, questions emerged over his availability to represent his nation during the extended international break.

The 23-year-old took to social media to issue an apology after confirming he would no longer be included in the Slovenia squad for their forthcoming Nations League fixtures, via The Mirror.
"I am very sorry that I will have to miss the national team's upcoming matches. I have always played for Slovenia - and always will - with heart and pride," Šeško wrote in a post on Instagram, translated from Slovenian.
"Right now, the most important thing is to focus fully on my recovery. I am already working on getting back on the pitch as soon as possible to help both the national team and my club once again.
"I believe in our guys, and I am certain that this time, too, they will display the team spirit that has always defined us. I can't wait to wear the national team jersey again; until then, I will be Slovenia's biggest supporter. Go Slovenia."

Šeško had originally been included in the Slovenia squad for the nation's upcoming fixtures. Slovenia will take on Scotland in a Nations League double-header and will also face North Macedonia and Switzerland.
United also announced that Šeško had pulled out of the Slovenia squad and offered an update on the striker's condition.
"Benjamin will undergo tests this week before defining his individual recovery plan," United confirmed.
Carrick was questioned about Šeško's omission from the United squad over the weekend. The United manager remains optimistic that the striker won't face an extended period out of action.
"He [Šeško] just felt a little bit of pain after the game the other night [against Brighton]," Carrick told MUTV on Sunday. "We're assessing that. Hopefully, it's not too bad but we will have to see."
