Man, 33, wanted by Hamilton cops in human trafficking probe

A 33-year-old Belleville man who once played college basketball for the Loyalist Lancers is wanted on human trafficking charges in Steeltown.

Hamilton Police say Ebunoluwa Tomiwa – who also goes by the name “Boon” – is sought in connection with an ongoing human trafficking investigation and investigators are hoping members of the public can help track him down.
Tomiwa is wanted for charges that include trafficking in persons, procuring for sexual services, material benefit – trafficking of persons, and withholding documents.
According to loyalistlancers.com, Tomiwa played multiple seasons as a forward for the men’s basketball team at Loyalist College in Belleville – with his last year being the 2018-19 season.

He also served as a member of the team’s coaching staff until 2020.
On his LinkedIn profile, Tomiwa is listed as a technology recruiter whose hometown is Mississauga.
Tomiwa is described as Black, 6-foot-2, about 250 pounds, with a large build and dreadlocks.
Investigators are also concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims and are encouraging anyone who believes they may have been victimized to come forward.
“We recognize that human trafficking can have lasting impacts and that speaking about these experiences with police, family or friends can be difficult,” police said in a statement released Wednesday. “Survivors who are not ready to make a police report but would like support can contact Hamilton Police Victim Services at 905-546-4904.”
