New bag restrictions at Prudential Center anger Devils fans

Those attending Devils games at the Prudential Center this fall will have to follow a new bag policy that is leaving many fans frustrated.
On Saturday, just under a week away from the start of the NHL season, the New Jersey Devils alerted fans about the new policy in a social media post.

“We’re ready to see you back at Prudential Center, but just so you know, our house rules changed a bit,” the post said. “Take a look at the new bag policy and check that yours makes the cut.”
The post goes on to say that all bags larger than 4″ x 6″ x 1.5″ are prohibited. A graphic shared in the post shows an example of an acceptable bag, which appears to be a change purse.
Parenting bags and medically necessary bags may be exempted from size requirements but must be screened by X-ray prior to entry, the stadium wrote on its web site.
Details about the Prudential Center’s previous bag policy were not immediately available Wednesday evening. A spokesperson for the arena did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Many users on Facebook seemed dissatisfied with the new policy.
“Gonna have to bust out my 12-pocket cargo pants I guess,” one user wrote.
“My wallet is bigger than that bag size,” another frustrated user said.
The official start of the NHL season is on Sept. 29. The Devils will host the Philadelphia Flyers in the home opener at the Prudential Center on Oct. 1.
