The 2026 MLB regular season delivered plenty of surprises, from the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays finishing among baseball’s best to several preseason contenders falling well short of expectations.

ESPN has now handed out its final report-card grades for all 30 teams, with only two teams earning A+ grades while three clubs received failing grades.

Brewers and Rays headline ESPN’s grades

Tampa Bay also received an A+ after clinching the AL’s best record. Atlanta earned an A, while the White Sox received an A after dramatically outperforming preseason projections.

The Dodgers received a B+ despite approaching 100 wins because ESPN viewed that level of success as essentially meeting expectations for Los Angeles. The Yankees also earned a B+ after overcoming significant injuries to Aaron Judge and multiple starting pitchers while reaching the postseason.

Detroit received a D+, while Colorado earned a D+ despite another 100-loss season. Toronto and Kansas City both received D grades, while Cincinnati and the Athletics landed at D and D-, respectively.

The Mets stand out among the failing grades because of the expectations surrounding their offseason. ESPN noted that New York entered the year ranked sixth in its preseason rankings with a projected 92-70 record, only to endure injuries and disappointing performances throughout the season.
