The Philadelphia 76ers had quite the busy offseason, bringing in the likes of Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, amongst others. With these acquisitions, the Sixers had some deals to make to create headspace on the roster, as well as in the salary cap, which saw the team make some trades to get some contracts off the books.

One of those contracts was that of Johni Broome, who just wrapped up his first season in the NBA with Philadelphia and was the main piece in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier in the offseason. The trade saw Broome make his way to the Intuit Dome, along with a second-round pick, in exchange for cash considerations.

Broome's debut season in the league wasn't anything to write home about, as the former Auburn Tiger struggled to get time at the NBA level, while he spent more time with the Delaware Blue Coats, Philadelphia's G League affiliate. His season would end prematurely when it was announced that Broome had suffered a lateral meniscus tear.

Clippers move on from Broome

However, it appears that Broome's career in Los Angeles isn't set to get underway, as according to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Clippers have waived the 24-year-old.

The news comes only a few weeks ahead of the NBA preseason getting underway, which doesn't leave Broome with too much time left to find a new team. However, there's still a whole season ahead for him to find a second chance in the NBA.
