Lwandle shooting: 10 killed, 11 injured at Cape Town shisanyama

Gunmen killed 10 people and injured 11 others at a shisanyama in Lwandle, Cape Town, in the early hours of Sunday, 27 September.

Western Cape police said the gunmen entered the entertainment venue, which also sells braaied meat, at about 01:46 and opened fire on patrons.
Five people died at the scene. Another five died after they were taken to medical facilities. Eleven injured people are receiving treatment.

Police increase deployments in Lwandle
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has established a multidisciplinary team led by Serious Violent Crime detectives to investigate the shooting.
Lwandle police have opened murder and attempted murder cases. Police have also increased deployments in the area while detectives search for the gunmen.
No arrests had been made when police issued their statement on Sunday. Police have not released the victims’ names and said they would do so once officers had informed their families.
