The San Antonio Spurs are fresh off an NBA Finals run, albeit losing in five games against the New York Knicks.
Despite the Spurs’ terrible performance, rookie Dylan Harper stepped up in crucial moments and became an instant fan favorite during the playoffs.
Keeping that in mind, it’s hard to see Harper being restricted to a bench role in the upcoming season, and the former No. 2 overall pick agrees.

The Spurs currently have one of the best-built rosters in the NBA. While Victor Wembanyama is the cornerstone superstar of the team, the likes of Harper and Stephon Castle are terrific talents as well.
With that said, it’s only natural for Harper to want a bigger role in the new season, which was evident from his unfiltered response during an interview with GQ Magazine.
“What’s the political answer here? I’m going to do whatever the team needs me to do, man. If that’s come off the bench…,” Harper began.
He quickly clarified, “That’s crazy. F___ no. I ain’t coming off no bench… I was lying.”
It’s unclear what Harper really wants, as he went back on his furious response to potentially being the sixth man for the Spurs.
But one thing’s clear: The Spurs will remain a massive threat to every team in the Western Conference for the foreseeable future.
