Phil Mickelson, who was accused by a female golf club employee of making inappropriate contact with her, recently entered treatment.
According to a Wednesday, September 30, TMZ report, the professional golfer voluntarily checked himself into an addiction treatment center.

“Phil was seeking treatment for family trauma and addiction,” a rep for the 56-year-old told TMZ, which reported that he’s already out of the facility.
In June, a Golf Digest article thrust his personal life into the spotlight. Multiple sources said the pro athlete was accused by a female employee of making inappropriate contact with her before a round of golf this spring.
The six-time major champion made nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact with her, multiple sources claimed to the publication, who did not name the employee for privacy reasons.
The woman — who reportedly alerted supervisors immediately — declined to be interviewed, but a spokesperson for the athlete said in a statement, “Any misunderstanding has been cleared up.”
A June 28 report by Skratch then documented his alleged inappropriate behavior and relationship with alcohol.
ZUMAPRESS.com / MEGAMickelson announced in a February Instagram statement that he was stepping away from competing due to a “family health matter.” In April, he provided a personal update on Instagram, writing that he would not be playing the Masters as he and his family continued to “navigate a personal health matter.”
A spokeswoman for Mickelson told Skratch in a statement, “Some of the allegations circulating about Mr. Mickelson are false, and others revisit mistakes he has already acknowledged, publicly or privately. Stacking the disputed claims next to the ones he has owned does not make them credible. It instead contributes to a false and misleading narrative.”
“No person, no article, and no book can present an accurate, complete, or personal story of the life Mr. Mickelson and his family have lived,” the statement continued. “His story, struggles, and recovery belong to him and to the people who have shared it closely alongside him.”
“Recovery is not a straight line,” the statement said. “Throughout their 35-year relationship, his wife, Amy, has supported Mr. Mickelson and their family with extraordinary grace, unwavering love, and the belief that people are measured not only by their failures, but by what they do to make them right.”
“Mr. Mickelson’s priority is to become the husband, father, and man his family deserves,” the statement concluded. “Right now, that means giving his full attention to a private family health matter. He understands that parts of his life are public, but his family’s private matters are not.”
