Aaron Boone Reveals What Yankees Must Do Offensively Amid 0-2 in ALDS

There's no other way to put the New York Yankees' performance on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS other than disgustingly disappointing. For a Yankees team that had a real opportunity to come out and take care of business with their best arm on the mound in Cam Schlittler, the defense completely failed him.
Making four errors in the ALDS is absolutely flabbergasting, and it's been something of a problem for the Yankees in years past. It always feels like we see the same issues roll around in October: the Yankees' inability to play clean baseball, get timely hits, and, frankly, do what good teams do.

The Yankees rely on the long ball way too much, which I don't want to say is the worst thing because it's hard to put together hits against above-average arms, but their offense was just terrible.
Even with how bad the defense was, the Yankees didn't give up a slew of runs in a 5-2 loss. If the Yankees' offense had shown up at all, it would have had a chance to win this game.
Returning to the Bronx for Game 3, the Yankees will have an opportunity to bounce back. I'm curious to see if there's any fight in this team to do so, but skipper Aaron Boone believes it's possible, adding that the team has gone through a lot this season and he expects them to keep battling.
“A really rough night to say the least for us,” Boone said after the game to reporters. “We’ve got to get over it. We’ve responded all year to difficult times and we’ve got to do it again.”
“Whatever it takes, we’ve got to do it offensively and we’ve gotta be able to score some runs and do a better job of preventing than we did tonight,” Boone added.
If the Yankees' offense keeps playing at this level, the series will be over in three games, and that's very unfortunate for a team that had a chance to win a World Series.
As for the Rays, we have to give them a lot of credit for what they've been able to do on both sides of the baseball.
They're doing the complete opposite of the Yankees, and once again, showing that they can win in October.
