White Sox choose starting pitcher for winner-take-all ALDS Game 5

Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable said Friday, Oct. 9 that pitcher Sean Burke will get the starting assignment Saturday with the season on the line.

Burke will start in Cleveland in Game 5 of the American League Division Series, which is tied 2-2. The winner of Saturday’s game between the White Sox and Guardians will play the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Championship Series, which starts Monday.

Burke is the rare White Sox pitcher who hasn’t thrown a pitch in four days. He was the winning pitcher in Game 2 of the series, in which he allowed one run in 5.1 innings on Oct. 5 in Cleveland.
