The Wizards are intent on proving that they will no longer be among the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, while the Pistons want to prove their No. 1 seed 2025-26 performance was not a fluke.

These strong intentions led to a pretty aggressive preseason game which was close and poised throughout and led to a clash between core players in the second half, which might have been misinterpreted by fans.

Anthony Davis sticking up for Trae Young goes viral with unverified quote

A video of a third quarter clash between Pistons guard Daniss Jenkins and Wizards’ Young went viral, as the guards clashed after Jenkins reportedly bumped into Young while running back on defence, prompting a scuffle which was neutralised by the 6’10” Davis.

While there is no verified audio or transcription of the interaction, many fans believe that Davis defended Young by commenting on his teammate’s small stature while promising to stick up for him.

“Listen… I know that he’s small, I know he’s small, but that’s my boy, okay, that’s my boy.”

There is no credible source that backs up the words that were said, as the video that has gone viral on social media has no audio and is a presumed lip-reading interpretation, if not outright falsely created by fans looking to go viral on social media.

Davis played 22 minutes and scored 10 points with 11 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Young played 23 minutes and scored just two points but dished out eight assists, making his teammates look good.

Davis’ words while defending Young are unconfirmed and have gone viral, but the intent on defending his teammate seemed true.

This veteran duo will be expected to help the Wizards return to the playoffs after six seasons, especially with an exciting supporting cast featuring 2026 Draft No. 1 pick A.J. Dybantsa alongside them.
