‘Offers Absolutely Nothing,’ ‘Completely Inexcusable’ — Calls Mount for Commanders To ‘Fire’ HC Dan Quinn After Blunder vs. Giants
· Yahoo Sports
The Washington Commanders had one of the most unfathomable blunders at the end of the game against the New York Giants. As a result, it took away what should have been a certain win for them.
Now, in the aftermath, the growing sentiment amongst the fan base is that the blame largely falls on head coach Dan Quinn. As a result, social media is flooded with demands for the franchise to fire him.

Jayden Daniels led the Commanders into field goal range in overtime for what should have been the game-winner. Facing a 2nd-and-8 from the 26-yard line, the Commanders had over 50 seconds remaining on the clock with neither team possessing a timeout.
It seemed like a situation tailor-made to get them the victory. However, they burned the clock down to 12 seconds before running another play. Rather than throwing the ball away or immediately stopping the clock, Daniels scrambled and was tackled for no gain.
That led to time running out, ending the game with the scores tied at 27 apiece. While Daniels shared some of the blame, the mismanagement fell directly on Quinn for not communicating better with his players.

“I want Dan Quinn fired. I’m out. I’ve never been so out. He’s really not different from Ron Rivera,”Jordan Asri claimed. “He offers absolutely nothing as a head coach and has not had an exceptional defense yet, despite being hailed as this great defensive mind. He has a guy running his defense for him.”
So far this year, the Commanders are ranked at number 27 on PFN’s Defense Impact Metric, barely an improvement over their number 31 ranking last season.
“No lie, I would fire Dan Quinn on the spot,” Elite Takes confessed, and Jimmy Kempski seconded that opinion, adding, “Jayden Daniels is rightfully taking heat for this, but they have to fire Dan Quinn, like, tomorrow.”
Eric Nathan of Barstool Sports pinned the blame on Quinn entirely, arguing, “Rewatching it in absolute awe. So many levels of stupidity on display. Dan Quinn doesn’t call plays, doesn’t do anything. All he has to do is let the QB or OC know they don’t have any timeouts. That’s all he has to do, and he couldn’t even do that.”

JP Finlay of NBC Sports, too, had a similar mindset, as he explained, “Plenty of people to blame, but clock management ultimately lands on the head coach. Abysmal performance from Dan Quinn.”
Anthony McFarland called out both Quinn and Daniels, writing, “Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels. Shame on both of you. This can’t happen when u are running a billion-dollar company.”
Veteran analyst Colin Cowherd didn’t mince words either as he wrote, “What in the world was Dan Quinn thinking? Or Jayden Daniels? That’s a fireable offense. Completely inexcusable.”
Most people wanted an immediate change from the team, with one fan writing, “You have to fire Dan Quinn after that. No exceptions,” with former defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko also sharing a similar message, writing, “Fire Dan Quinn. Right now.”
It remains to be seen if the Commanders will make a drastic change this early in the season. But Quinn’s seat is undeniably getting hotter by the week. It wouldn’t be a complete shock if the team decided to make a decision after a heartbreaking end to this game.
