What to know about October 11 FHSAA MaxPreps rankings in Gainesville area

Columbia football sits just on the precipice of the open division as it ranks No. 11 in Florida, but IMG Academy is not a part of the FHSAA and Miami-Carol City was deemed ineligible for the postseason last week. The Tigers are still No. 1 in Class 4A.

The latest rankings proved bad news for Buchholz and Hawthorne. The Hornets pummeled Chiefland but saw their strength of schedule score drop. This pushed HHS from No. 1 in Class 1A to No. 4 and more importantly, behind Trinity Christian in Region 2. Buchholz is in a similar spot. The Bobcats fell 12 spots from Thursday and remained well behind Mandarin for the top seed in Class 5A-Region 1.

Bradford won the Class 2A-District 5 title Friday over Newberry and remain in position for a top four seed in Region 2. Santa Fe looks to enter the same position with a win over Dunnellon Thursday.

In Class 1A, Chiefland, Williston and Fort White are all in playoff position but will likely have to begin the postseason on the road.
