Kentucky defensive spotlights in overtime win over LSU
· Yahoo Sports
Kentucky football sits at 5-1 and is the talk of college football after back-to-back walk off two-point conversions in overtime for the win. The Wildcats defeated the LSU Tigers to keep the momentum rolling which has propelled them to be ranked 15th in the country. We have reviewed Kentucky's offense and defense performances in the overtime win over LSU. We recently gave our offensive player spotlights, now let's look at which defensive players made an impact in the game on Saturday night.
Jamarrion Harkless
Jamarrion "Chops" Harkless transferred from Purdue to return back home to Kentucky. The Lexington native had his breakout performance against LSU, as he was consistently wreaking havoc against the Tigers offensive line. He made a massive play on a bull rush where he drove the offensive lineman directly into Sam Leavitt to forced a fumble late in the fourth quarter. Harkless had 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks, he was consistently disrupting the middle of the pocket.

Sam Greene
Sam Greene has continued to make massive plays this season, and he showed that again against LSU. Greene had a few quick wins against the Tigers offensive line, which set him up to have an incredible performance. Greene also had 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on Saturday. Greene has consistently made game changing plays this season and he has to continue that moving forward.
Grant Godfrey
Grant Godfrey keeps developing as the green dot, and with the Wildcats lack of linebacker depth he was forced to play every defensive snap on Saturday. Godfrey had 10 total tackles and was flying around to make plays on the football. Arguably the biggest play of the game was the third down tackle from Godfrey to set up a fourth down, which gave Kentucky the football back to eventually set up overtime. Godfrey will need to keep developing as the season goes on with the lack of depth at inside linebacker.
Bo Barnes
Bo Barnes, similar to Godfrey, basically never left the field on Saturday night. Barnes played almost every snap, he got a little banged up and had to miss a couple during the game. Barnes was flying sideline-to-sideline and always seems to be in position to make plays, but he did miss a couple tackles in open space. Barnes had 12 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss in this game, he continues to develop and make an impact.
