After a competitive loss to USC, Penn State heads on the road to play Michigan. How does the staff see this one playing out?

A stoppable force meets a moveable object! Michigan has a stellar defense and virtually no offense. Penn State has an okay defense and an okay offense? Let the pillow fight ensue!

Points will be hard to come by, and given Penn State’s red zone woes, I don’t expect they’ll score very many. That being said, after having been run over by Northwestern and passed over by USC, having a bit of a respite on the defensive side should be nice. I don’t think either team scores much, but for whatever reason (ennui decaying toward apathy and ultimately nihilism at this point) I think Penn State could actually escape Ann Arbor with a win.

Going into the year, this was the game I was least looking forward to due to past history (2002, 2005, 2007, 2014…you get the idea). After six games, Penn State has certainly not done anything to assuage my concerns. It’s not so much that Michigan has also not looked impressive, it’s that our guys haven’t shown they can play complimentary football for four quarters.
If Penn State cannot get to Bryce Underwood and force poor decisions, that’s all she wrote..

Anyone picking Penn State to win is out of their minds.

This is the biggest pillow fight between these two programs since the Covid year. Michigan’s defense is the best unit on the field for either team, and they should be able to control the game against a limited Penn State offense. Bryce Underwood is not a great passer, but he can move, and that should be enough against a Penn State defense with poor linebacker play outside of Rojas and a non-existent pass rush. Michigan will make enough plays to keep Penn State at arm’s length. If the defense cannot come up with a turnover or two, it is hard to see a path to a win for Penn State.

Both teams have offenses that make fans want to pull out their hair in sheer frustration. I don’t have confidence that either side can regularly move the ball, so expect a low scoring affair. The difference here is the Michigan defense. They will be the best unit on the field by quite a wide margin. They are much more reliable than Penn State’s defense, which has only seemed to get worse from week to week.
Underwood makes some splash plays on the ground that lead to a touchdown and sets the Wolverines in scoring position enough to pull off the victory, handing Penn State its fourth consecutive loss.
