Andy Reid has reassured Kansas City Chiefs fans after Travis Kelce suffered an ankle injury scare during their 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
The veteran tight end limped off the field after a tackle by Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley and received treatment on the sidelines. However, Kelce returned to action and finished the game.

Andy Reid says Travis Kelce will be okay after ankle injury scare
Speaking to reporters after the victory, Reid offered a positive update on his starting tight end’s condition.
“Travis Kelce tweaked his ankle and played through it. Says he’ll be sore tomorrow, but he’ll be OK,” Reid said, according to AotZ Sports’ Charles Goldman.
The update will come as a relief to Kansas City, given Kelce’s importance to quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offence.
Kelce was able to return after having his ankle wrapped, completing the game without any further reported issues. He also appeared to be walking comfortably after the final whistle.
At 37, the tight end remains a key figure for the Chiefs in his 14th season. He has recorded 16 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns across six games this season.
Reid has previously praised Kelce’s commitment and the example he sets for younger players in the squad.
“He’s a great leader, and he works hard. He wants to be in there, and for a young guy to look at that, it’s hard for them to make an excuse to take a rep off,” the Chiefs head coach said.
Meanwhile, Kansas City also received updates on other players following the win. Offensive tackle Jaylon Moore suffered a concussion, while receiver Jalen Royals was checked for a concussion before being cleared to return.
Kingsley Suamataia was also expected to be fine after taking a kick to the calf.
For now, Reid’s assessment suggests Kelce’s ankle issue is not expected to keep him out, although the tight end could feel some soreness after the game. The Chiefs will monitor his condition as they prepare for their next fixture, with his availability remaining an important factor for Mahomes and the offence.
