Luka Doncic Sends Message to Lakers Fans Ahead of 1st Game of Season

· Yahoo Sports

Los Angeles Lakers All-Star point guard Luka Doncic took out a full page ad in the LA Times on Wednesday to send a message to fans ahead of their first game of the season against the Golden State Warriors.

Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA, routinely securing All-NBA and All-Star selections, but one thing—perhaps the biggest thing—is missing from his resume: an NBA title. In his statement, he makes it clear what the Lakers’ goals are for this season.

How Good is Luka Doncic?

Doncic came to the Lakers midway through the 2024-25 season, headlining a massive three-team deal between the Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz.

He is the centerpiece of the Lakers’ roster, and proved he could be the best player on the team in his first full year on the squad. Doncic led the NBA in points per game last season with 33.5, and also logged 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game through 64 games.

His time in LA thus far hasn’t been the best, suffering two early playoff exits in consecutive years, but Doncic and the Lakers will look to turn things around this season, which kicks off Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. PT against the Golden State Warriors.
